Vamos Colombia Tour: Personalized Travel
Personalized Gay Tours
(and we are straight-friendly too)
All our tours are personalized for gay travellers. We only bring small groups, and we are happy to cater to the specific interests and requests of our guests. In addition to our set trips listed on tould be happy to create a custom-made trip for you or your group.
Connect with Colombians
Our trips aim to introduce you to Colombia, and also to individual Colombians. We do this in several ways: Each trip has the option of having a meal (lunch or dinner) in the home of a Colombian family. In Bogota, guests can visit a non-profit foundation that provides homes to orphaned children with HIV. We can provide recommendations for those wanting to have a safe and fun time at night on the town.
WE ARE UNIQUE
Peace of Mind
All of our guests are accompanied by the host and founder of Vamos Colombia, Walter Rey. Walter has arranged for local guides in each city, and his presence on the tour provides that extra level of comfort, convenience and peace of mind. Born and raised in Colombia, Walter is a bilingual U.S. citizen, whose goal is to ensure your trip is hassle-free and unforgettable. He accompanies the guests to each location and event on the itinerary, and where possible, on the optional events as well.
Informal and fun classes
For those with specific interests, we will be happy to arrange for vacation classes that are fun and informal – such as learning to cook Colombian food from home chefs, learning to dance salsa, cumbia or merengue to be ready for the all-night party, or brushing up your Spanish – as the Colombian accent is said to be one of the “purest.”
Adventure Activities
While Colombia is of course obsessed with soccer (or “futbal” as it is known there), many other sports and adventure activities can be found and we are happy to help arrange that. Every Sunday the main streets in Bogota are closed to vehicle traffic to allow cyclists free-reign. Locals and visitors of all skill levels can rent and ride bicycles through the city. Many gyms and recreation centers also are available for a daily use fee, if you desire a tennis game, a swim in an Olympic pool, a round of golf or a workout.
In the Santander department, adventure and sports are a specialty, including touring, hiking, bicycling swimming and even Horse back riding and are also available. Many other activities are known in this areas. Barichara is a very well preserved colonial town with wonderful meals and great people.
The warm blue Caribbean waters are particularly inviting for water spots enthusiasts. (and snorklers) can explore the third largest corral reef in the world just off Providencia Island, or other undersea wonders in San Andres, the coast near Taganga and Santa Marta, and the islands off Cartagena (San Bernardo and the Rosario Islands).
Outdoor adventures also await in the Zona Cafetera. Once you have picked all the beans you can handle, relax in the natural hot springs, or spend the day on a traditional ranch where there is plenty of meat. Coffee is the number one product and we can enjoy some great tasting.
Some of our tours also can focus on specific themes, such as colonial architecture (of which there is much to see throughout the country), eco-tourism (including national parks, fair-trade coffee plantations, and preserves of the high bio-diversity of Colombia), or politics (of which there is no shortage of discussion in Colombia).
